The Start
Kav’s property management journey started when he was looking to buy a place of his own after renting for several years. He wanted something that would offset the cost of a mortgage, though. A friend recommended living in a multi-family and renting out the available floors. So that’s what Kav did. Then, he relocated for work and bought another property. Eventually, his travels brought him to Ohio where some friends suggested he invest in property there. And that’s what he did.
Lisa grew up in Australia and bought her first property there. Years went by and she had the urge to travel and play music around the world. She sold her property, got a few things together, and took off. She began busking all over Europe. She also landed gigs at pubs, restaurants, and cafes across the globe. Around 2019, she was ready to be done. It had been a fun ride, but she was ready for something else. That’s right around the time she met Kav.
When I asked Lisa and Kav how they met, Lisa laughed and said, “He always takes too long to tell this story. He has to include every detail.” Kav smiled and replied, “They’re important details!”
With Lisa’s quote in mind (sorry, Kav), we’ll just skip to the part where they kept in touch after their first dinner together, and things slowly developed from there until they decided to travel together full-time. Once they started on the road together, they discussed Kav’s property investments, and he told Lisa about an opportunity in Ohio. She had been saving money, so when he told her about this opportunity, it felt like the perfect timing.
Finding Innago
Early on, Lisa and Kav started working with property management companies because their travels made it almost impossible to completely self-manage their portfolios. The disconnect was almost immediate. Kav and Lisa felt like their personal relationships with tenants became distanced and confusing. The property management companies poor communication only exacerbated the issues. Lisa described the communication as “too slow and not taking tenant’s concerns seriously enough.”
Another issue with the property management companies was the cumbersome, unintuitive software. Kav summarized it thusly: “It was software built for them, not software built for us.”

One of the first things that stood out to Kav and Lisa was how easy it was to get started. Kav, who has experience working with software solutions, was especially impressed. “There was even a guided process for the onboarding, which I really appreciated… I could see my progress, check things off, and I didn’t have to do things in a linear fashion.”
Lisa echoed this sentiment. “I would have remembered if the onboarding process was difficult, and it wasn’t,” she said. “One of our tenants, an elderly man, had a little trouble early on. But all he had to do was call Innago, and they sorted it right away. He got help immediately.”
From the beginning, it was clear that everyone benefited from the switch.
Being across the ocean wasn’t an obstacle, either. Kav and Lisa laughed as they talked about all the places they’ve been. The number of countries exceeds 70. And that’s not counting all the places they’ve been individually. They truly put the “global” in global landlords (but they both point out it’s actually more affordable living on the road than settling down in the states because of how they approach travel).

Kav and Lisa both rave about how Innago facilitated the ability to reconnect with their tenants, which is something they lost when working through traditional property managers. “One of the things I noticed right away was how much more my tenants appreciated working through Innago,” Kav said. “Everything from the ease of use, the mobile app, to being able to put in maintenance requests, and get responses from us directly.”
The stronger relationships are win-win for everyone. Tenants not only appreciate Innago’s intuitive interface and user-friendly features, but also the flexibility like being able to make partial payments and choose different payment methods. What stood out most, though, was the sense of direct connection. “They just appreciated the closer relationship they had with us,” Kav explained. “It built trust, knowing we were on the other side, not a middle person.”
