At Innago, we strive to improve the renting experience for both landlords and tenants through a wide variety of features that make managing a lease more efficient, accessible, and valuable for all parties. We’ve compiled platform-wide usage data from July of 2024 to June of 2025 to measure the trends and impact of these features, as well as surveying over 4.5k active tenants using Innago to analyze how these usage trends can lead to a better experience for tenants and business growth for landlords.

Online Payments
One of Innago’s most popular features is online rental payments, allowing you to collect, track, and manage your income, all in one place. Over 60% of rent invoices made through Innago are paid online, and equipping additional features such as automated payments and payment reminder alerts can increase the likelihood that tenants pay their monthly rent on-time.
The data corroborates this story. In our study:
64% of rent invoices that were paid online were on time. By comparison, only 30% of rent invoices that were paid offline (via cash, check, etc.) in that same period were reported to be on time.
This means that tenants are more than twice as likely to pay rent on time with Innago’s online options available as compared to paying with cash or check. Online payments benefit everyone—tenants have multiple, simple payment options, and you can relax knowing that you don’t have to track down physical payments from each of your tenants on a monthly basis.
Late Fees
Late fees are often viewed as secondary fees, more of an afterthought compared to other forms of monthly income. The value of collecting late fees shouldn’t be underestimated, though. Enforcing these fees not only encourages on-time payments, but can also increase your monthly/yearly revenue significantly. In our study:
Property owners who had late fees enabled and collected full invoice payments between July 2024 and June 2025 collected an extra $64 per month on average.

Tenants who were screened through Innago paid their rent on time ~10% more often than tenants who weren’t screened through Innago.
While screening is already a part of the rental process for most landlords, the opportunity to find tenants who are more statistically likely to pay rent on time each month is one you shouldn’t pass up.
Maintenance Management
Much like late fees, landlords don’t often want to keep up with the arduous task of tracking maintenance tickets across up to hundreds or thousands of units. Maintenance management is not only a necessary part of running a rental business, but can have significant impacts on tenants and their retention rates over time.

Tenants with at least half of their maintenance requests resolved renewed their leases at a rate of 21%, compared to only 15% for tenants who never used maintenance and 16% for those whose tickets went mostly unresolved.
Tenants were more likely to renew their leases when maintenance issues were addressed. Using Innago’s maintenance management tools makes maintenance an easier task for both landlords and tenants, and when landlords stay on top of maintenance tasks with Innago, tenants are more likely to renew their leases.
Tenant Satisfaction
Tenant satisfaction is crucial for lease renewals when running a rental business, and one of the many ways to measure tenant satisfaction is through surveying tenants on what features and tools in our software they enjoy and use the most. We surveyed over 4.5k active tenants using Innago to learn about how they use our software and how satisfied they are with its features. Below are the main takeaways gathered from survey responses:
Paying rent with Innago is correlated with easier on-time payments, higher satisfaction rates towards landlords, and higher likelihood to recommend Innago to other tenants.
Among tenants in our study population who pay rent online:

- 79% are satisfied with how their landlord or property manager uses Innago (compared to only 54% of tenants who don’t pay rent through Innago).

More than half of tenants want an online payment option, even if it comes with a fee.
Although fees are a common complaint among tenants, most would still pay for the ability to pay rent online. More than half of tenants recognize the value and convenience of online rent portals and are willing to pay the small fee (in our case, 2.99% of credit/debit payments and $2.00 per ACH payment) in order to access that convenience.
Tenants who are satisfied with the way their landlord or property manager uses Innago are more likely to want to stay in their rental longer and subsequently renew their leases.
Our data shows that tenants whose landlords use software effectively are more likely to stick around. That’s because paying rent online and having access to features like maintenance portals and secure messaging make tenants’ lives easier. When tenants worry less about their living situation, they typically interpret it as a sign to stay put.
Tenants who use Innago’s maintenance feature on mobile are more likely to be satisfied with their landlord’s use of Innago and to recommend the software to other tenants.
