Innago Vs Hemlane

December 14, 2022

We’d love to connect with you.

Property management software can help any landlord or property manager with their business. However, it’s important to conduct thorough research to find the right platform. If you’ve narrowed your search down to Innago and Hemlane, then you’ve landed on the right page.

In this article, we’ll discuss pricing, features, customer support, and more to help you determine which software makes the most sense for your rental business.

Pricing

Pricing is always the best place to start. After all, this is an integral part of any decision when it comes to buying a new product.

Hemlane offers three different plans: Basic, Essential and Complete. The Basic plan costs $30 per month and then $2 per unit after that, plus an additional $28 base fee. This plan includes most of your basic features like tenant screening and lease management.

Hemlane also offers the Essential plan, which costs $40 per month and $12 per unit after that initial monthly expense, plus an additional $28 base fee. This plan adds 24/7 repair coordination to the basic plan.

Lastly, Hemlane offers the Complete plan. This plan costs $60 per month and is $32 per unit after that initial monthly expense, plus an additional $28 base fee. This plan includes more features that help with day-to-day operations like access to maintenance professionals and local leasing agents

Innago, on the other hand, is free. No, you didn’t read that wrong. So, how do we make money? We have tenants pay certain fees for specific add-on services. For instance, when a tenant takes care of a bill via ACH, they owe an added $2 fee. If they pay with a card, that’s an additional 2.75%. Landlords and property managers can absorb the cost of these fees if that’s something you want to do.

Innago also has applicants pay $30 for credit and criminal reports or $35 to include eviction history reports. Lastly, Innago allows tenants to buy individually priced renter’s insurance directly on the platform.

Innago is clearly the better option when it comes to value for money. Hemlane’s somewhat expensive pricing doesn’t compare to Innago’s affordability.

Simplicity

On Capterra, Innago scored a 4.8 out of 5 possible stars on ease of use on Capterra and many reviews speak to how intuitive and navigable the platform is. The interface is sleek and straightforward. Many reviewers mentioned the ease with which they’re able to navigate the platform.

Hemlane isn’t quite on the same level as Innago according to its score. It received 4.7 out of 5 possible stars on Capterra for ease of use. However, like Innago, many reviewers mentioned the ease of navigation and how user-friendly the platform is.

One of the big drawbacks when it comes to Hemlane is that there isn’t a mobile app. Multiple reviewers mentioned their frustration with the lack of this feature. You can still operate some of the features on your smartphone or tablet, but reviewers prefer an app to this method and that’s not an option with Hemlane. This is certainly a big deal in today’s online world.

Innago’s mobile app helps you easily take care of important tasks from anywhere. This simplifies your operations tremendously.

Customer Support

Both platforms scored a 4.9 out of 5 possible stars for customer service. This is impressive and speaks volumes about Innago and Hemlane’s culture. Both platforms care deeply about clients and go above and beyond to address their needs.

Innago provides access to full email, phone help and a live chat option during business hours. Innago also puts together webinars to help new landlords get up to speed and offers personalized demos by request.

Innago assigns a representative to each account to ensure customers get personalized service. Landlords receive the representative’s email and contact information. You can almost always reach someone on Innago’s general support line after hours (it won’t necessarily be your assigned representative, though). And, if you aren’t able to reach them right away, they always return calls and emails within a couple of hours.

Hemlane provides a help center with training videos and educational articles, a request submission form, support email and a support number.

Key Features

Features are an important part of reviewing software platforms. The platform you choose must be able to meet your needs to be useful and worthwhile.

Some key features include with Innago are:

  • Tenant screening, including a customizable application builder and criminal, credit, and eviction history reports
  • Automated payment alerts, tenant communication and messaging tools
  • Maintenance and repair tracking
  • Financial tracking and reporting

Innago received 4.8 out of 5 possible stars compared to Hemlane’s 4.7 on Capterra when it comes to features in general.

Taking it a step further, on G2, Innago earned better ratings for all but two of the features compared to Hemlane.

Overall, Innago is a bit more focused on powerful core features while Hemlane focuses a little more on agent-based features.

Mobile App

One specific feature we need to point attention to for this review is the mobile app. It’s a big drawback when it comes to Hemlane.

Likelihood to Recommend

This metric reveals someone’s true feelings about a product. If I recommend a product to my friends, that means I feel strongly about its efficacy.

On Capterra, 97.5% of reviewers said they were likely to recommend Hemlane. Innago, meanwhile, had 97.4% of reviews saying they would recommend the platform to others.

This is an important variable when considering which software to choose. It should factor into your decision. However, you should still weigh everything else and figure out what makes the most sense for your specific business.

Conclusion

You can’t beat Innago’s pricing. And the value you get for that price is unmatched. While Innago and Hemlane have very similar ratings on the major rating sites, the lack of a mobile app is a definite issue with Hemlane. But, even more critical, Hemlane is a bit on the expensive side when it comes to property management. And we all know how important expenses are, especially in today’s economy.

A summary statement from G2’s comparison said this: “Reviewers felt that Innago meets the needs of their business better than Hemlane.”
